I drew this as a fun remembrance of my birthday trip to Disneyland with friends and fam. My reference for this piece was from the collection of photos we took that weekend. It was kind of a crazy weekend since Kirby and I drove down but we also had to make a stop over in Santa Monica for a quick freelance job pickup before meeting everyone for dinner.

I remember this trip being a lot of fun, and that I had a great time hanging out with everyone. These people are the best, and can draw out even the most stubborn introvert to be a little more outgoing.

Another older piece I worked on for a contest in the egl_comm_art community. I didn’t think I’d actually make an Alice in Wonderland piece since I was mostly sketching the bunny girl out but in the end I decided to try it out since I normally don’t draw more than one subject in my pieces. This might have been one of the first sketches I did in where I really started to like working in Sai. The playing cards and BG were done in 3ds max courtesy of Kirby :D

Brooch Test

Test render of our current progress. First pass in animating. I think trying to follow frames in the anime makes it feel kind of static and posed (works well in 2D). Also with this render are the effects that we’ve started tinkering with in After Effects.

Transformation Test

Testing the contour rendering with the 3D model, and hair animation. Played around with particle effects. Looks like she’s holding an invisible hamburger :P

Sailormoon update :D after posting my old render from 2006 I managed to cajole Kirby into taking a look at the model again and to see whether or not she was salvageable. You can compare her to the older version and see if you notice any differences. I haven’t had an opportunity to test the rig myself, so this was one of the test renders Kirby did (hehe, and now I notice a slight little mistake in this :O).

I think the next fun part I am looking forward to this project would be all the fun effects :D
